PBA BURN!!
Saturday, Oct 18th: Two small landowner burns (2 acres and 5 acres) north of Lyle. This will involve full participation in helping us burn, including being involved in burn operations (e.g. holding the perimeter of the burn unit, helping with fire-lighting operations, patrolling the outside of the unit) and supporting mop-up after the burn. You do not need to have any prescribed fire qualifications or official training to participate in this burn! This is intended to be an opportunity for local landowners, neighbors, and community members to come together to burn, and learn through the experience of working with fire. Nomex also will not be required. Participants should wear a non-synthetic shirt (cotton and wool work great), non-synthetic pants (thicker is good, jeans ok), and leather boots, preferably not with a steel toe. We also require leather gloves, a helmet, and eye protection and can loan out any of these items if you need to borrow them (just indicate that on the spreadsheet!). Because these burns are permitted by Washington DNR, they are allowed to proceed even though the Klickitat county burn ban is still in effect. Each of our burns are carefully planned and prepared and have ample water and other equipment on site. Approximate location of these burns: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hvk1BP16JVFFpv1v7
Note: Each event is on its own sheet, or tab, ordered by date (look toward the bottom of the window to see the tabs). Use the arrows to the right to scroll through sheets/tabs. We are closely monitoring the weather and may need to modify or postpone our burn plans. If that is the case, we will be in touch with folks on our sign up sheet as early as possible.
We will continue to send out burn participation and burn observation opportunities via this email list, so keep an eye out for future announcements!
